Exquisitely made in Bethlehem, this Mother-of-Pearl Dove Brooch reflects a regional craft tradition which is thought to have been introduced by visiting Franciscan Friars in the 15th century. Originally the carvings were made from the shells of oysters harvested from the Red Sea and the Italian-inspired handicraft became popular with the many pilgrims visiting the city.
